Zombie

Undead Minion

When someone dies in the Underworld, strange magics bind their souls to their bodies a little too long. This allows adventurers to be revived even from grievous wounds. It also creates zombies.

The brains rotting in the zombie's skull still seem to send out a stray impulse every once in a while. This causes zombies to perform some actions that mimic life. They eat. (God, do they eat.)

They sometimes desperately hold on to their old possessions—some favored sword, an idol, a book. They are drawn to and wander around places that are well-known to them.

But, at the same time, they no longer have any shred of mercy or humanity. Mothers will attack and devour their children. Children will feast on their fathers. Zombies are men made into monsters.

Zombies usually carry the weapons they carried as adventurers, wielded clumsily. Zombies are sometimes still outfitted in old, rusty armor they wore in life. In this case, give them 1 Defense.

Notes

  • Breathless and Undreaming.

Zombies ignore any effects related to living processes. They do not breathe. They do not sleep. They cannot be poisoned. They are immune to the Poison Blood of seablooded orcs.

  • Rotting Brains.

Zombies ignore any attempts to manipulate their minds. They are immune to the Inspire effect. They cannot see illusions.

Lesser dooms

  • Devour the Living.

If a living creature is Knocked-out or at Death's Door, play a lesser doom card to devour it. This Heals 2 Wounds to the zombie.

Greater dooms

  • Last Grasp.

When the zombie would take a Wound, discard a greater doom instead. The zombie takes no Wound, but one of its limbs is severed. The limb continues to attack independently. This adds a new enemy to combat. This action does not count against the one card per turn limit.

    • The severed limb has the same Initiative as the zombie. The severed limb can suffer 1 Wound before it stops moving. The severed limb cannot use the Last Gasp action.
