Titan, The Sporehulk

Elemental Dungeon Lord

In the time before time, when the far realms were much closer to this one, entities called titans shaped the realm of Flesh. They exalted the mountains, poured the seas, flattened the valleys, and molded the trees. Each titan was unique, given a particular form for its particular function.

(It was the dragons who put a stop to all this. It was the dragons who invented time. It was His Majesty the Worm who invented death.)

Eventually, the titans were slain and laid to rest. All save one—the Sporehulk. It is his lonely task to watch over the bodies of his fallen comrades.

The Sporehulk is a towering giant, standing forty feet tall. He is covered in shaggy moss and mushrooms, resembling a hill that came to life and started shambling around. The Sporehulk cannot speak (he has no mouth) but can understand Tylwyth.

The Sporehulk is utterly gentle unless someone disturbs the sepulchers that he guards. This drives him into a berserk rage.

Attributes: Swords 7 | Pentacles 3 | Cups 3 | Wands 3

Likes: Flowers, Small Woodland Mammals

Hates: Crowds, Public Places, Open Areas (especially afraid of the sky and weather), Disturbing the Tombs

Special rules

The Sporehulk itself is a battlefield. Its body is separated into four separate sections, each one of which is a zone and an antagonist in its own right. The Sporehulk consists of its Legs, its Torso, its Left Arm and its Right Arm.

Each section of the Sporehulk has a lesser and greater doom associated with it. If a particular section is disabled, entangled, or defeated, it can no longer use those abilities.

An adventurer can climb on the Sporehulk by using the Dash action. This allows them to move up or down one section at a time. An adventurer can target any section they are currently climbing with melee attacks. While standing on the ground, melee attacks can only target the Sporehulk's Legs.

Rune of protection. On the Sporehulk's back (Torso area) is a magical rune of protection. The Sporehulk is immune to damage until its rune of protection is destroyed. Attacks simply bounce off of him and cause the magical rune to pulse with dull light.

A successful Attack that targets the rune of protection will deal 1 Wound to the Sporehulk's Torso and end this immunity. To target the rune, a player just needs to specify that they are attempting to hit it with their attack. An adventurer must be climbing on the Sporehulk's Torso to make a melee attack on the rune. An adventurer can target the rune with a missile attack from the ground as long as they can see the Sporehulk.

Despite having separate pools of HD for each section, the Sporehulk only has a single Initiative.

Legs — Health/Defense: 4/0

If the Sporehulk's Legs are defeated, it crumples to its knees. Its Arms and Torso can now be targeted with melee attacks. If the Legs are defeated, it can Move by crawling (as long as its Arms are intact) but cannot Dash.

Lesser dooms

  • Kick.

The Sporehulk kicks out and makes an Attack that targets all adventurers in its zone.

Greater dooms

  • Rampage.

The Sporehulk can play a greater doom as his Initiative.

Left Arm / Right Arm — Health/Defense: 5/0

Each arm is a separate pool of Health/Defense: 5/0 each.

Lesser dooms

  • Grab.

The Sporehulk can Roughhouse to attempt to grab a foe. While grabbed, an adventurer is Rooted but moves with the Sporehulk. The Sporehulk can hold two adventurers at a time.

    • While grabbed, a foe can be squeezed (see below).
    • While grabbed, any Attacks that miss the Sporehulk automatically hit a grabbed foe instead.
  • Throw Stones.

The Sporehulk can Attack by lifting and throwing heavy things—suits of armor or dislodged stones or held foes. If a grabbed adventurer is thrown, they automatically take a Wound.

Greater dooms

  • Smash.

The Sporehulk can play a greater doom as an Attack action.

  • Squeeze.

Play a greater doom card to squeeze all grabbed adventurers, automatically dealing them a Wound.

Torso — Health/Defense: 5/10

The Sporehulk will not die until his Torso's section is defeated.

Notes

  • Tough.

Actions that target the Sporehulk's Torso must exceed (not just match) its Initiative.

Lesser dooms

  • Shake.

The Sporehulk shakes and Roughhouses all adventurers climbing him. If successful, the adventurer falls to the ground, causing them to be Tripped and suffer Piercing damage.
