Mimic

Sometimes the Animate Object spell lingers too long. Sometimes it's used on the same object too often. Sometimes the spell is interrupted and maleficence occurs. When these things happen, mimics are born.
Mimics are objects that have accidentally become alive. In general, they hate this. No loving creator god shaped their biological processes. Their insides are riddled with mistakes: frayed nerves, benign tumors, and too many organs.
A mimic at rest looks exactly like a normal object—a chest, a broom, a cache of coins, a book. When it's disturbed, it roars to life in a riot of teeth, eyes, and grabbing pseudopods. Like Cookie Monster, they crush up their food without swallowing. Then it goes back to sleep and resumes its perfect camouflage as an item.
If an adventurer tries to interact with a camouflaged mimic, they test Cups. On a success, they pull back before the mimic wakes up. On a failure, they take a Piercing wound as the mimic ambushes them. A Challenge proceeds if the guild continues to engage with the mimic.

Greater dooms
- Harden.
Discard a greater doom card to become immune to the last type of weapon that Wounded the mimic. It can only be immune to one weapon type at a time. This action does not count towards the one card per turn limit.
- Riot of Teeth.
When the mimic Attacks, discard a greater doom card to gnash with its riot of teeth. If successful, the Attack deals Piercing damage.
