Harpy

Elemental Minion

Half-woman and half-vulture, harpies are savage, pitiless, and disgusting. Their woman halves are devoid of anything resembling empathy or mercy. They delight in cruelty, especially mean jokes. They have a very developed sense of schadenfreude. Their bird-halves are caked in filth, blood, and excrement. Their smell is terrible.

A harpy rarely uses weapons or armor. They prefer to avoid direct combat through flight. When pressed, they can attack with their sharp talons. A harpy will always prefer to gang up on a single target with her sisters rather than engage in a fair fight.

Notes

  • Flutter.

Harpies Move 1 zone without spending a card each turn.

Lesser dooms

  • Flight.

If they have enough space, the harpy can fly as a Move action. While flying, they lazily circle through the air. This keeps the harpy out of melee engagement, though they're still vulnerable to ranged weapons.

    • While flying, the harpy can make a fly-by attack. On the same turn as it makes a fly-by attack, the harpy can be targeted by melee attacks. This does not cause the harpy to become engaged.
  • Pelt with Stones.

Play any card to pick up a piece of scenery (firewood, crumbling stones, etc.). These can be thrown while flying as a missile Attack.

  • Pull Into the Air.

The harpy may attempt to pull an adventurer into the air and drop them; on its turn, the harpy adds its Pentacles to this action's total value. This deals Piercing damage. The harpy is engaged by this action.

Greater dooms

  • Shriek.

Play a greater doom card to let out an earsplitting wail. All non-harpies in the same zone are Stunned. Other creatures in the area will be drawn to this sound.
